K-Drama: 별난여자, 별난남자 (The Bizarre Bunch/Peculiar Woman,Man)
The Bizarre Bunch (Peculiar Woman, Peculiar Man) (follows My Sweetheart, My Darling). Begins airing Monday, November 21, 2005. Mon-Fri, 8:25p–9:00p on station KXLA (44). Eng subs
Writer: Lee Tok Jae (Pearl Necklace, So This Is Love)
Episodes: 170
Official Homepage: Korean
Here's a cast photo of family/character groupings that will help see who is connected to whom.
class p Synopsis and Cast (below) courtesy of Meat Jun from KBFD, Hawaii, who also provides summaries (contains spoilers). class blockquote This drama is about love and aspirations of young people and also the ever changing Korean family.
The cast is as follows, grouped into their respective families for easy reference:
Lee Hae In (26) - Actress Kim Sung Eun

(Hae-in's father, mother, aunt)
Family:
Hae In's father (Lee Byung Doo, 51) is a very careful and meticulous man and his family gets really tired of this. The mother (Choi Yu Jung, 49) is a hardworking housewife who is constantly frustrated at her husband's nagging. Hae In is a smart, quick-thinking woman who is very competent at her workplace. She works for a home shopping company called Welbing (I wonder if it is called Well Being Home Shopping in English?). I think she leads the Product Development Dept in the company. The lady in the fourth picture is Hae In's aunt (Lee Ok Doo, 37). I think she owns a cafe near Jae Man's company (Jae Man is the father of Suk Hyun -- please see below) and is popular with male customers at the cafe. She got divorced 7 years ago. She later moved in with her older brother's family.
Jang Ki Woong (27) - Actor Jung Joon (Like Father Like Son, Delicious Proposal)
The official website has his name down as Ki Wook on the intro page, but other pages show his name should be Ki Woong.

(Ki-woong's father, mother, Grandmother, little sister)
Family:
The father (Jang Jae Do, 54) of this family is the oldest son of the Jang family. He tries to act manly and brave in front of his family. The mother (Kang Min Sook, 51) is a typical Korean daughter-in-law. Ki Woong is the type that cannot tolerate injustice. He is by nature an optimist and has a warm heart. Grandmother (Suh Mal Ja, 75) likes to nag. Sister (Jang Da Jung, 19) represents the stressed out student in Korea who is about to take her entrance examination for a university.
Jang Suk Hyun (26) - Actor Ko Joo Won

(Suk-hyun's father, mother)
Family:
The father (Jang Jae Man, 52) of this family is the second son of the Jang family. He is the chairman of the Welbing (Well Being) Home Shopping. His character is just the opposite of his older brother. He is flirtatious but pragmatic. The mother (Jung Yo Jin, 49) doesn't know anything other than money. Suk Hyun has an MBA from the US. He wants to look for real love but does not open his heart easily.
Kim Jong Nam (22) - Actress Kim Ah Joong (Emperor of the Sea - she is a new actress whose first role was Ha Jin in Emperor of the Sea.)
Jang Jae Ok (46) is the youngest child in the Jang family. She owns a restaurant, and I think she lost her husband early and just lost her only son recently. So she has been leading a sad and lonely life.

Re: K-Drama: 별난여자, 별난남자 (Peculiar Woman,Man/The Bizarre Bunch)
Whew! Last night's opener was sure jam-packed full of characters, wasn't it?!
I think I got the first family group (Kiwoong's) settled in my mind. Mom and Dad, two children (Kiwoong and his teenage sister), and Granny (MIL). Salaryman type family. Kiwoong is a good-hearted guy who seems to bungle everything. He is described as not being able to tolerate injustice. (Kiwoong once broke his arm trying to capture a pickpocket!)
On his way to an interview for a job (desperately needed), he encounters a man on a bridge, about to leap to his death. The dialogue between the two is actually funny (this is definitely much more a comedy than straight drama). By the time the police come and Kiwoong has grabbed the guy, he remembers his job interview and runs like crazy to get there. He is an hour and ten minutes late and they refuse to interview him. He goes home and, feeling the pressure, tells his mom and grandmother that he did just great, which sets a whole other set of problems into motion.
Then we had the two young women roommates, one of which got kicked out with no notice (Jongnam) by the selfish one, so a guy could move into her bedroom. Jongnam (the ousted girl) works in an upscale bar/restaurant and has offered to cleanup and close the establishment by herself so that she can secretly sleep in the storeroom—since she is now homeless. We see her drinking the leftovers from a wine bottle in the storeroom after she has closed the restaurant, remembering her recently deceased brother (Minwoo?) and planning to have a key made to the restaurant so she can secretly slip in and stay in her new "home," the storeroom.
Mr. MBA (Sukhyun)arrives back from the States, shades and all. At the airport to meet him are his well-to-do parents, the Jangs, and Kiwoong (his cousin).
Then we had the Lee family, with the cold, demanding "perfect" father; the beat down, drab wife; and the daughter, Hae-In, who is, of course, the apple of her father's eye. (Isn't she the actress who played the evil sister in Windflower? Nearly unrecognizable... thank goodness!)
It seemed an interesting drama, judging from the first episode. It's going to take a few more, though, to fit all these people into their little niches and how they are connected to one another.

K-Drama: 별난여자, 별난남자 (Peculiar Woman, Peculiar Man)
this drama seems for refreshing the MSMD, more funny so far, i already cant stand that rich family, the son is a spoiled ****y rich brat, and the mom is even worse. it was weird tuning on and not seeing MSMD since it was on for 7 months haha.

Re: K-Drama: 별난여자, 별난남자 (The Bizarre Bunch/Peculiar Woman,Man)
Certain parts of Jong Nam's character/storyline so far reminds me of Geums-soon from Be Strong Geum-soon:
1. Jong Nam doesn't seem to have any family; Geum-soon's mother had abandoned her after her father's death, but at least she had her grandma, aunt, uncle, and cousin.
2. Minwoo is dead before the event in the first episode takes place; Geum-soon's husband died less than a day after the wedding ceremony.
3. Jong Nam gets kicked out of her friend's place; Geum-soon got kicked out of her in-laws because they blamed her for causing their son's/brother's death. Jong Nam is "homeless" but at least she had a job; a pregnant Geum-soon can't even land a job due to her inexperience and ends up collecting empty coffee cups for money. Both Jong Nam and Geum-soon sleeps at the park and the two get robbed of their belongings, Geum-soon having hers stolen twice (robbed of money while heading into a small shop for food, and her belongings right under her nose as she slept on the park bench).
4. Jong Nam runs into Minwoo's cousin; Geum-soon runs into the doctor who had operated on her husband.
