C-Drama: KSCI noon《龍非龍鳳非鳳》Lord of the Ancient Lane (8/8/2008-9/18/2008 )
30-episode drama. I haven't seen it. From the beginning segment, I saw many actors who were in the last drama, the Golden Anniversary.
It looks like the lead actor, Zhang Guo Li, is playing the royal uncle. His real-life son and wife are both in this drama. His son plays the Emperor and his wife plays the Empress Dowager Cixi. Zhang Guo Li directs this drama. I believe his wife is the executive producer.
2 actresses from Taiwan are also in this drama. One of them is the talented actress, Susanne Hsiao. She is more known for her drug use (and went to jail in Taiwan for it) than her acting now.
BTW, the literal translation of the Title is "Dragon Isn't Dragon and Phoenix Isn't Phoenix". In historical terms, Dragons refers to the direct line of the Emperor and his sons. Sons of emperors are called Dragon Sons. Phoenix refers to royal princesses.
